NEST Eligibility Criteria
Here, we are proving the eligibility criteria which prescribed by the exam conducting authority. Hence, refer the given eligibility conditions before starting the application process.
Age Limit:
- Candidates should be born on or after 1st August 1998.
- 5 years age relaxation is applicable for the SC/ ST/ PwD categories.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must be completed the 12th examination in Science stream from a recognized board.
- Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are the compulsory subjects.
- Candidates have to obtain the 55% marks in the 12th or equivalent examination. Reserved category applicants having 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.

Step 4: Upload Signature & Photograph
- After that, aspirants are required to upload the images of recent passport size photograph and signature.
- The images must be in JPG or JPEG format.
- Each image file size should be less than 80 KB.
Step 5: Payment of NEST Application Fee
- The NEST Application fee for General & OBC male candidates is: 1000 INR.
- SC/ ST/ PwD category and Female candidates have to pay the NEST Registration Fee of 500 INR.
- Applicants can pay the fee through SBI Payment Gateway.
- They can make payment by using the Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.
About National Entrance Screening Test
NEST exam is conducted by National Institute of Science Education & Research (NISER) and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS). The NEST exam is organized to provide admissions into 5 years Integrated M.Sc programmes offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.
Students admitted to this programme are eligible to receive Rs 60,000 an annual scholarship either through the INSPIRE program of Department of Science and Technology or the DISHA program of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. It will be managed once in a year. Therefore, interested candidates should fill the NEST 2020 Application form to write the test.
